About the Artist
Nancy Kunoth Petyarre is one of the original eighty Anmatyerre and Alyawarre women painters from Utopia in the Northern Territory chosen to paint on canvas for the CAAMA Summer Project 1988 – 89.
The works were among the first acquired by the Robert Homes a’ Court Collection after exhibiting at the S.H. Ervin Gallery, Sydney in April – May 1989.
Many of the paintings on canvas represent Awelye (Dreaming) designs originally Painted on the upper body, thighs, arms and breasts.
